## Rules applied

- Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, Articles 51-53 (gratuity), 29 (annual leave), 43 (notice)
- Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022, Article 30 (part-time and other work models)
- Cabinet Resolution No. 96 of 2023 + Ministerial Resolution No. 668 of 2023 (Savings Scheme)
- Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017 (VAT) and No. 47 of 2022 (corporate tax)

Gratuity: no entitlement below one year of continuous service; 21 days of basic
salary per year for the first five years; 30 days of basic salary per year beyond
five years; part years pro-rated; days of unpaid absence excluded; total capped at
two years' wage. Resignation does not reduce the entitlement under this law.

Salary basis, which differs by component: gratuity and unused annual leave are paid
on BASIC salary, excluding housing, transport, utilities and furniture allowances.
Notice pay is paid on the FULL wage. Mixing the two is the most common error in
UAE settlement figures.

Annual leave: 30 fully paid days a year after one year of service; two days a month
between six and twelve months; unused balance paid out on termination.
Notice period: 30 to 90 days, paid at the full wage.
VAT: standard rate 5%; registration mandatory above AED 375,000, voluntary above
AED 187,500. Corporate tax: 0% up to AED 375,000 of taxable income, 9% above it —
a threshold, not a flat rate on the whole figure.
